IKey FAQs

1. What versions of Netscape does iKey 2000 software support?

The iKey 2000 software does not support Netscape Communicator versions earlier than 4.0 or later than 4.79. Netscape 6.0/6.1 and later can not be used with iKey 2000 software.

2. Are there any compatibilty issues with ikey 2000 and Internet Explore version 6 ?

Running under Windows 98, on a VeriSign affiliate website, the CSP failed to generate the keys on the token. Workaround: Upgrade to iKey2000 software, version 4.5.10.

3. My iKey2000 Token Manager does not see the token on my Windows 2000 machine. It says "No Readers Detected". What can I try?

For Windows 2000 machines only! Please open up a DOS window and type in: "scardsvr reinstall" and hit Enter. Please re-boot and try Token Manager again.

4. What happens when an iKey 2000 Series Token Is Connected to a Windows System on Which PC/SC Is Installed AND the iKey 2000 Series Software Is not Installed, the LED May Turn Off After a Period of 12 Seconds?

On a Windows 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000 or XP system with PC/SC installed, an iKey 2000 series token’s LED will turn on when the device is first attached. If the iKey 2000 series software is not installed, the LED will turn off after a period of about 12 seconds. This functionality is controlled by the PC/SC resource manager. If no active connections to an iKey 2000 token are present, the PC/SC resource manager will power down the device, which will cause the LED to turn off. If the system has a copy of iKey 2000 series software installed, then the iKey 2000 series software will always have an active connection to the iKey 2000 token, hence the LED will remain on. This is the designed behavior of the LED and the iKey 2000 series software.

5. What happens if "Active X Control Error" occurs?

You may be using a Windows 2000 computer without adequate permissions

You may have encountered this error because of the following reasons -

i) You may have clicked 'No' when prompted to download the ActiveX control(s)-If this is the case click the back button of your browser and when prompted to download the ActiveX control click 'Yes'.

ii) You may be working on a Windows 2000 machine without adequate permissions-You need to be a Power User or a Local Administrator on this computer and you need to allow ActiveX controls in your browser.If you are not sure whether you have the correct permissions please contact your system administrator and send the following link.

iii) You may not have allowed the download of ActiveX controls in your browser-If you are a Power user or a local administrator you need to enable ActiveX controls in your browser and try your operation again. You can enable ActiveX controls in your Internet Explorer options as follows -

IE4 - Go to View->Internet Options menu and select the Security pane.You can either set the security level as Medium or choose Custom Level, ensure that you enable Download signed ActiveX controls and Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting
IE5 - Go to Tools->Internet Options menu and select the Security pane.You can either set the default security level as Medium or choose Custom Level, ensure that you enable Download signed ActiveX controls and Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting

Cause: You does not have Administrative privileges in his system.

Solution: You needs to have admin privileges in his system to download the Active X controls.

6. What happens when you have inserted the ikey before installing the iKey software?

iKey installation Error

You should insert the ikey only when it is prompted by the system. The ikey driver has to be installed seperately. The following procedure must be done to resolve this error message

1. Uninstall the Rainbow ikey software.

2. Restart the system

3. Go to the url given below, http://safeexim.safescrypt.com/IKEYDRVR.EXE and download the iKey driver and then install the driver alone.

4. Insert the cd(SafeDoxx-SafeExim) into cd-drive, then navigate to iKey 2000 directory.

5. Run the setup.exe.

6. Finally click OK to finish the installation.

NOTE: At the time of restarting the PC do not plugin the ikey into the port.

7. What is the cause and solution when the following VB Script Error "80090020 error" occurs when enrolling"?

Cause: The iKey was not initialzed before enrolling.

Solution: They ikey needs to be initialized before enrolling.

8. What is the cause and solution when the following error "token server not responding" occurs?

Cause: The Token server service is not running.

Solution: This needs to be started in some systems where we get this error. This service can be started by following the procedure given below:

1. Click Start-->Programs-->Administrative Tools-->Services

2. Click DataKey's Token Service.

3. Right Click on that and select Start.
